The Alberta Pond Hockey Association is a non-profit organization that was incorporated in 2006 under the Societies Act found in the Province of Alberta.

This is what we have achieved in 3 years! We are Alberta’s largest pond hockey tournament!!! In 2008, teams from Sask, NWT and Ontario participated! Quick 2006 to 2008 Comparisons.

  • Hall of Fame Guests: Gerry Cheevers, Bostons Bruins (2007) & Bryan Trottier, New York Islanders (2008).
  • And we have been featured on CTV Newsnet, Hockey Night In Canada, CBC TV & Radio, Global TV, and at Edmonton Oiler Home Games.



The mandate of the Alberta Pond Hockey Association is to:146

  • Provide an affordable event for families to enjoy. This is a free event for spectators. Live bands on the ICE!!!
  • Raise awareness and monies in support of local youth programs and Special Olympics Alberta.
  • Showcase and celebrate the spirit of the Peace Region.
  • Provide a family oriented recreational activity for all Albertans.
  • Serve as a feeder tournament to the World Pond Hockey Championships which originate out of Plaster Rock, New Brunswick.

In order to ensure the success of this initiative, we have drawn upon the support of governing bodies, corporate sponsors and community minded citizens who share a passion for recreational pond hockey.

In doing so, we hope to provide a healthy recreational opportunity that will attract a legion of followers for years to come.

Our sincere thanks and appreciation are extended to those who have assisted in re-affirming a fine winter tradition in the Peace Region.
