Alberta Pond Hockey

Unfortunately, we will not be in a position to host the Alberta Pond Hockey Championships in 2012. After an incredible five year run, filled with some incredible pond hockey memories, marked by some amazing play, visits from NHL legends, and of course the climate, we must place this year’s tournament in abeyance. A sincere and genuine thank you to past teams, volunteers, sponsors and the surrounding municipalities. Were it not for the collective effort we would not have achieved the success we experienced. Thank you for all of your support.

2011 Alberta Pond Hockey Champions!!!

Congrats to Mid Ice Crisis who took the “B” Finals with a win over the Raiders! Great game by both teams!

Despite -30 degree weather, 113 participants took part, including our NHL guests, in the World’s Largest Pond Hockey Game.

A great time was had by all with a resounding desire to hold the WLPHG once again and improve on our totals!

20 Acres of Snow Being Removed!

Hat’s off to our incredible “site team” as they have begun to remove 20 acres of snow in anticipation of the 2011 Championships!

On another note, we are still in need of assistance at the lake and a few light towers for this year’s event. Please call Cam at (780) 618-7281. The champs will be crowned in less than 1 month.

This past week the Alberta Pond Hockey Association website, www.albertapondhockey.com, recorded it’s 100,000 hit! An amazing total given that the site was erected in August 2008! Thanks to all of our pond hockey friends and supporters for making this event such a huge hit. In five short years, the Alberta Pond Hockey Championships have received national and international attention! Thank you to all! See you on the pond!

In honour of our military heroes, the Alberta Pond Hockey Association is pleased to offer members of the military a reduced fee of $400. It is our way of saying “thank you” for your service to your country. Please call 780-625-6161 to register!

The Alberta Pond Hockey Association welcomes the Town of Devon as a new affiliate tournament for 2011! Alberta is quickly becoming the “pond hockey capital” of the Canada! The Town of Devon hosts an amazing tournament for those who are unable to make the trek north.

The Ironman Tournament, held between January 21st-22nd in Devon, plays host to Men’s, Women’s and a Family Division. Two teams from the Ironman Tournament will be featured in the  2012 Alberta Pond Hockey Championships showing us what Central Alberta is made of!
