The Loon River team has developed quite the reputation at the Alberta Pond Hockey Championships. Loon River is an Indian Reserve approximately two kms South of the Town of Red Earth in Northern Alberta. Clyde Noskey a passionate hockey player and the teams organizer has kept the team going for the past four years. The team has played together in Recreational Hockey for the past eight years. They have participated and won the Alberta pond Hockey Championships for the past four years. Not to mention they have not loss one game at the Alberta Pond Hockey Championships for the past four years. Noskey loves the opportunity to getaway with his family and friends for some good old pond hockey. You better believe the Loon River team will be at the 2017 Alberta Pond Hockey Championships. Meet Bill Ruston our Director of Site Operations!

1. Tell us a bit about yourself?

I have lived in Grimshaw for almost 30 yeas, now semi retired still looking after the Cemetery mostly in Summer. I do look forward to the Pond Hockey event and did miss it the year it was cancelled.

2. How long have you been with the Alberta Pond Hockey Association?

2017 will be 8 years that I have been involved with Pond Hockey, the last 4 years mostly working at the lake preparing the ice surface, setting up the tents, tearing down and of course clean-up.

3. What is you’re favourite part about the Alberta Pond Hockey Championships?

Working with the Volunteer’s. We make it fun for the volunteers and without them the event would not be possible. We need to do more to
recognize these people and make sure that they are encouraged to come to the Gala as that is what it is supposed to be for.

4. Why should someone register a team for the 2017 Alberta Pond Hockey Championships?

It is a great weekend and nice to see some of the teams returning and hopefully bring more teams. we must encourage the junior teams to participate.

See you on the pond!
