Dogsled Rides

Have you ever wanted to get up close and personal with a purebred Siberian Husky sled dog or a Pure Bred Canadian Eskimo dog? Because now you can at The Alberta Pond Hockey Championships. Whirlwind Acres will be out at Lac Cardinal on the Saturday and Sunday of the event.

Stick Curling

Try your hand at stick curling during the event. In partnership with the Grimshaw Curling Club a stick curling rink will be set up at Lac Cardinal. There will be Grimshaw Curling Club volunteers at the rink giving demonstrations and teaching anyone who is interested.

Ringette

Ringette is a Canadian invention that has become one of the fastest team sports on the ice. The Sunday of the Alberta Pond Hockey Championships a Ringette Tournament takes place. Teams from all over the region compete in the tournament.

Skill Shooting Contest

The Western Financial group Kids Only One-Timer Challenge will take place at 1:00pm on the Sunday of the event. Kids will have the chance to shoot and win a variety of different prizes.

Beer Garden & Food

Located in the middle of the action is a large, heated tent that houses a lively beer garden, cozy seating area, and Mr. Mikes Steak House Casual, who will be on site all weekend serving hot dogs, smokies, and burgers.

Ice Sculptures

You can expect an epic, picture worthy ice sculpture at the Alberta Pond Hockey Championships. Hand crafted by a local artist from the Mighty Peace. The ice sculpture design is always kept a secret until the first day of the pond hockey championships.

Ice Racing

Alongside the many hockey games, visitors will be able to watch the thrilling ice races – where ATV’s and dirt bikes race at top speeds across the frozen lake on the Saturday and Sunday of the event. Follow the Wapiti Offroad Association on Facebook for event details.

Family Ice Skating Rinks

Even if you are not participating in the championships bring your skates and skate on the family ice skating rinks. There are two family ice skating rinks that are available all weekend long for families to skate on.
